A true story

Just recently, we got ditched by a couple who didn't send us a deposit. Now, you can say it was my fault for allowing this to happen, but the groom was a Marine .. and as I'm a former serviceman myself.. and as everything was kinda last minute, I let them slide on sending me a deposit. We drove an hour and a half to Wrightsville Beach for a Beautiful Day south end wedding only to get a call 15 minutes before our agreed upon starting time saying that they "got a late start" and were just leaving Jacksonville (30 miles away). This is for a 2PM wedding, and they couldn't have called us sooner?

45 minutes later another call with "we have family problems and need to cancel". They probably never even left the house!

Now, the groom had spoken to me the night before and had even requested our photographer take some pics of them, so we blew a really nice Saturday afternoon for someone who had not a shred of courtesy, with a very nice ceremony I put together specially for them, and 3 hours of road time and gasoline wasted. They didn't even offer to compensate us for our wasted time or gas.

Needless to say that while this doesn't happen very often, this will be last time. People like that ruin it for everyone else. Wish it weren't so!
