Drumming Ceremony (An add-on to any ceremony, we will reach a certain point and launch into the following. Upon completion of the drumming segment, we will resume the wedding ceremony.)

The minister says the following:

"Before there were wedding ceremonies, there was drumming! Before there were I-Pods, cell phones, the internet, computer keyboards, e-mails, and the US Postal Service, there was drumming. In fact, before there were written languages or even spoken or grunted ones, there was drumming! The drum was once an indispensable part of human life, but today has been relegated to being a mere curiosity, and quaint relic of our ancient past.

What we are doing here today connects us with every human being who ever walked on this earth. After million of years of drumming, if any behavior from our past can be truly considered ingrained in our DNA, this would be the one!

Our early predecessors would find it strange that modern man has somehow "rediscovered" something that's been with us longer than domesticated animals, yet it's not too late for us to experience some healthy regression. Today, we are going to let our spirits roam free in a way and in a world that our spiritual selves might find more familiar with than what we call reality. We've heard the words of promise spoken from our thoughts and in our conscious language. Let's now speak in the language that is in our genes.. It's the language of rhythm...the language of the drum."

Tribal Rhythms (Optional reading)
 "Tap from deep inside
like the heartbeat of my soul
speaking in a sort of "Morse Code"
 to the universe
to the essence of whom I am
 secret directions
 to make things right
 worship, passion, insight
 ancient prophecy
 unfolding before me
 unfolding within me
I am descended from the beginning
 I am here now
 my spirit will endure
I am part of all eternity
 present and past
 the rhythm is medicine
that I may dance with my higher being
that I may know from whence I came
that my path may be clear before me
that my spirit may be free
 that I may truly be"

(Officiant "straps" on his drum, and the couple does the same. Officiant begins a slow and consistent beat, the beat that represents your heartbeats.

The groom joins in, getting a feel for the rhythm, adding his own mix to the music, telling his bride of his love and his passion through his hands on his drums. The bride then joins in, doing the same.

After we achieve our flow, our energy, the minister initiates a "break": a quick and rhythmic ending pattern that all drummers conclude with in unison, and we return the drums to the beach. Easy!)
